​Dr. Jaehoon Kim

With his international background, Dr. Kim provides Claflin students with opportunities to broaden their understanding of both financial and nonfinancial world.


As Associate Professor of Finance at Claflin University, Dr. Jaehoon Kim dedicates his time to Claflin students to prepare them for the future success. He believes in the importance of continued interaction with students because positive feedback lets him know that he is on the right track and negative feedback shows him what weakness he must strengthen. Dr. Kim’s international background also helps Claflin students understand the cultural differences and the way to communicate with different cultures.

Dr. Kim’s research interest covers various fields of finance including corporate finance, investment and personal finance. There are several works in progress currently.


Before coming to the U.S., Dr. Kim worked as a consultant at Daehan Investment Trust Company (DITC) in South Korea. Part of his jobs was to help customer understand their financial situation in layman’s term and help them find proper financial instruments to invest. His working experience in financial sector help Claflin students understand how their undergraduate learning applies to the real world and prepare for it. Dr. Kim’s academic experience as both graduate student and professor also helps him understand how Claflin students feel and react in their college life.
